qwabbl is a place for focused, calm conversation — no endless feed, no outrage machine, no ads. People gather in channels, start posts, and talk in replies. Conversations that have run their course quietly fade on their own, so what you see is always what's alive right now.
Here's everything you need to feel at home. It really is simple. :-)
The three building blocks
Channels are the rooms. Follow one and everything happening inside shows up on your home screen, ready to drill into. You can spin up your own in seconds.
Posts are the topics inside a channel. Right now you're reading the Welcome! post in the qwabblhelp channel.
Replies are the messages beneath a post. You can reply to the post itself or to any reply — threads stay readable instead of turning into one long tangle.
By default every view shows only what's unread. Use the Unread / All switch at the top of any list whenever you'd like to see everything.
Three kinds of channel
Public — open to the world. Anyone can read, follow and search them. Perfect for communities, projects, and anything you want to be found.
Private — invitation-only and end-to-end encrypted. The content is encrypted on your own device with keys we cannot read; it never leaves your circle in readable form and is never searched or indexed. Not even we can see inside.
Personal — a quiet space just for you: notes, drafts, a private journal.
Say it your way
A post is far more than plain text:
Write in Markdown — headings, bold, italics, lists, code, quotes and links all just work.
Attach images — shown inline and optimized automatically; tap any picture to view it full-screen.
Drop in a video — it plays right inside the post, streamable and seekable on every device.
Record a voice message — tap the microphone while composing, speak, and your clip appears as a tidy play-along waveform, just like the messengers you know.
Dictate instead of typing — live speech-to-text turns your words into clean, readable text as you speak.
Add files — PDFs and other documents ride along and can be downloaded by your readers.
And everything arrives in real time — new posts and replies appear live, with nothing to refresh.
Make it yours
Open Edit profile (your picture, top right) to set your name and a profile picture — drag and zoom to frame your photo just right, and a friendly frog stands in until you do. Pick light or dark looks (or follow your device), choose your favourite font, and read qwabbl in English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Lithuanian, Swedish, Dutch, Danish, Hungarian, Norwegian, Portuguese or Finnish. It feels just as good on a phone as on the desktop.
Creating and finding channels
Discover (top bar — on the phone, the bottom bar) is where channels live: type a few letters to find one and click its name to follow, or create your own — choose a name, a short description, and a type, and you're the owner, already following it, ready to write the first post. The green New post button up top is always one click away.
Bring your world in
Your personal channels can collect things for you: email sync feeds hand-picked senders from your mailbox into a channel of their own, and news sync follows your favourite websites' RSS feeds — readable, clean, without the clutter. Both live in the user menu (your picture, top right).
Why it feels calm
qwabbl is deliberately quiet. Each post carries an activity level that gently fades over time; when a conversation is genuinely finished it expires and clears the way for what's next. Nothing to archive, nothing to tidy — the garden tends itself.
Privacy by design
We collect as little as we possibly can. Private channels are encrypted with keys only you and your members hold. IP addresses attached to posts are removed automatically after 7 days, and sensitive data is additionally wrapped with a server key, so even a stolen copy of the database reveals nothing. Your data stays yours: your profile page offers a full download of everything you ever stored here — and the delete button, should you ever want to leave.
Supporting the people you read
Enjoyed a post? You can tip its author — settled directly on the Solana network, peer to peer. qwabbl never takes custody of your funds or your wallet.
Who's behind it
qwabbl is built and run by pocketservices GmbH, an independent software company in Schmitten im Taunus near Frankfurt, Germany — quietly crafting communication software since 2014.
